Join Us

Thank you for your interest. To learn more about how to join our team, please attend our monthly General Meeting. We meet on the 3rd Thursday of each month (except in December) at 19:00 (7pm) at 2700 Valley Drive East Helena. At every general meeting we meet separately with potential new members and explain in detail the process for joining the unit, as well as what to expect. We look forward to meeting you and answering any questions you might have!

Please be aware that all search and rescue members serve under the authority of the Sheriff's Office as Auxiliary Deputies and as such must be over 18 years of age, pass a background and reference check, have a valid driver's license, and sign a code of conduct. We do not expect people to come with all current skills and we are more than willing to train and mentor interested people through the necessary search protocol, medical training, and other technical and specialty trainings that are needed. There is a 6 month probationary period. Your advancement and success in Search and Rescue will depend on your attendance, participation, response to mission pages, following safety protocols, and working to keep your certifications, skills, and training up to date. Our members are all volunteers. We depend on each other for safety and support in the field while we work to rescue others and support the Sherriff's Office in various emergency situations as called upon. Please come and join our team. We look forward to meeting you.
